Week 5 – P90X Review

Posted by: osaez In: P90X

After recovery week, this week felt like the first one in some ways. There were brigther moments of sustainable development which showed in my endurance, more strength in some areas and better overall metabolic capacity. Back and Biceps left my arms sore for over three days. Chest, Shoulders and Triceps was a very tough routine where I bailed out much sooner in some push-up sequences. I figure that this was expected as these are the new workouts this week and likely meant to confuse my muscles.

There were some setbacks in max reps for pull-ups. I anticipate that the endurance gains will help push quickly to re-engage the muscle and drive higher weights and reps quicker this time. Ab Ripper X felt easier as well as Yoga and Plyometrics. There is noticeable improvements in agility, form and endurance working through these. In all, the new workouts are a nice addition but there is much room for improvement.

Some of my friends have commented that my speed on the court has increased, that I look stronger, but I’m unable to notice the difference. My arms are a bit stiff and so my flexibility may be getting in the way of hitting cut-shots accurately. I have not measured my vertical yet, but I expect that is better than my Day 0 baseline of 17 inches.

I’m sticking with the plan and will continue to do my homework as a good student. Heck, it’s only 90 days, and I’m almost at the halfway mark.
